Putin aide rebukes US over Gaza resolution veto, then praises Trump’s peace plan at UN

Russia’s Deputy UN Ambassador Dmitry Polyansky criticized the US for repeatedly vetoing UN Security Council ceasefire efforts in Gaza, arguing that Washington’s actions shield Israel from accountability and worsen the humanitarian crisis. Polyansky denounced US and Israeli resistance to Security Council calls for an immediate ceasefire, hostages’ release, and unrestricted humanitarian aid. He urged a renewed commitment to a two-state solution and noted that President Trump’s new Gaza peace plan—embracing a ceasefire, Israeli withdrawal, and new international oversight—deserves serious attention and broad Arab backing. Russia, he said, remains committed to internationally recognized frameworks and warned that lasting peace requires true Palestinian statehood alongside Israel.
