Russia is reportedly expanding Moscow's air defense network as Ukrainian long-range drone attacks continue to intensify. Open-source researchers say around 24 new Pantsir missile defense positions have been constructed around the Russian capital in recent months, creating a new defensive ring roughly 40 kilometers from central Moscow. Additional Pantsir-SMD systems have reportedly been deployed on rooftops, while new sites believed to be intended for S-400 air defense systems have also been identified. Researchers say the expanded network protects key strategic locations, including President Vladimir Putin's residence, Vnukovo Airport, major oil infrastructure, and critical electrical substations. The reported buildup comes after Russian officials claimed nearly 1,900 Ukrainian drones targeted the Moscow region within a single week.
