A devastating car explosion near Delhi’s historic Red Fort killed eight people and injured more than 20 others on Monday evening, sending shockwaves across the capital and placing security agencies on high alert. The blast, which occurred at a busy traffic signal near Red Fort Metro Station, gutted several vehicles and is being investigated as a possible suicide attack after authorities discovered that a car with three occupants detonated instantly. Police have filed a sweeping FIR invoking stringent anti-terror laws under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), specifically sections 16 and 18—which address the commission of terrorist acts leading to death as well as the planning, support, or facilitation of such acts.
