Russia and Iran are openly testing – and in some cases humiliating – Washington’s naval blockade around the Islamic Republic. Three U.S.-sanctioned tankers have slipped through the U.S. Navy perimeter to enter Iranian waters. Together, those tankers can reportedly lift around 1.9 million barrels of Iranian oil, raising serious questions over how effective Trump’s “maximum pressure at sea” campaign really is. All of this is happening as Iran rolls out new rules for ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz, trying to turn a U.S. siege into leverage over global energy flows.
