Russian Knights aerobatic team honoured Indian Air Force Wing Commander Namansh Syal, who was tragically killed in the Tejas jet crash at the Dubai Air Show on November 21. The team performed the solemn ‘Missing Man’ manoeuvre, calling it a tribute “for the brothers who didn’t return from their last flight.” The U.S. F-16 demonstration team also withdrew from the air show as a mark of respect. Reports say Wg Cdr Syal’s Tejas crashed during a low-altitude negative-G turn, nose-diving into the ground and erupting in flames at Al Maktoum International Airport. He was cremated with full military honours in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra on November 23.
