Russia’s spy network inside NATO? German intel knew of Leipzig suspect. . . Then they let him walk?

Germany's Leipzig drone investigation has taken a dramatic turn, with investigators reportedly tracing preparations for an alleged attack to Russian military intelligence. According to Welt am Sonntag, a suspected GRU employee organised preparations targeting Leipzig-Halle Airport before entering Germany through Turkey and later flying to Serbia. The most striking revelation is that German intelligence reportedly knew about the suspect's possible espionage links before the visit but did not place the individual under surveillance. Earlier reporting identified two suspects in the case. Did Putin's alleged “shadow war” penetrate Germany while Berlin's own spies missed their chance?
