I always imagined doing victory lap holding the Indian flag: Olympics bronze winner Sakshi Malik

Updated on Aug 18, 2016 12:35 pm IST

Wrestler Sakshi Malik ended India's wait for a medal at the Rio Olympic Games by clinching the bronze in the 58-kilogram category early on Thursday, pulling off a sensational 8-5 victory over Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzstan. With the win, Malik is only the fourth Indian woman athlete to win an Olympic medal after Karnam Malleshwari, Mary Kom and Saina Nehwal. Sakshi said she always imagined herself holding the national flag and running round the wrestling mat. When she finally did it, that was the best moment of her life.
