Parliamentary Speaker: President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to step down on Wednesday, July 13. The beleaguered President's decision to quit triggered an eruption of celebratory fireworks in Colombo. Yesterday, Sri Lanka witnessed massive anti-govt demonstrations & protesters stormed the President's official residence. Thousands packed in buses, trains & trucks from all across the South Asian nation entered Colombo to express outrage on Saturday. Irate citizens even forced railway authorities to operate trains to take them to Colombo.
