- Gujarat has got India's first 'steel road'. Situated in Surat, the road is made with 100% processed steel slag, is 1km long and has 6 lanes. The project is sponsored by the Council Of Scientific And Industrial Research (CSIR) and the Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) with help from the Ministry of Steel and Policy Commission and the NITI Aayog. It falls under the initiative of the Waste to Wealth and Clean India Campaign. According to CSRI, the viscosity of the road has also been reduced by 30%. This new method is expected to prevent the roads from any damage caused during the monsoon season. Watch this video for more details.
