Olympics: India lose in men's hockey semis; PM wishes luck for bronze match

- India men's hockey team lost 2-5 to Belgium in the semifinal at Tokyo Olympics. The team missed out on a chance to make their first Olympic final in over four decades. The last time India had played the men's hockey final at the Olympics was in 1980. Back in 1980, the India men's hockey team had also won the gold medal. India's campaign is still not over as they would compete in the Bronze medal match. On August 5, the team will face the loser of the second semifinal between Australia & Germany. PM Modi congratulated Team India on Twitter and wished them luck for the bronze medal match. It has been a good journey for the India men's hockey team in the Tokyo Olympics so far. India men's hockey team defeated New Zealand 3-2 in their opening group game. The team then picked up wins over Germany, Spain, Argentina, Japan in group matches.
