Top Iranian actors ditch hijab in public, get arrested for ‘inciting riots'

Iran has arrested two top actors who expressed solidarity with the anti-hijab movement and removed their headscarves in public, "defying the Islamic regime's laws." Hengameh Ghaziani and Katayoun Riahi were both arrested after being summoned over their "provocative" social media posts. The 52-year-old film star Ghaziani had indicated she had been summoned by the judiciary and then published a video on Instagram of herself removing the obligatory hijab. Katayoun Riahi, who has appeared in a number of award-winning films, spoke to London-based Iran International TV in September without wearing a hijab. Watch this video to learn more about the arrests.
