- A day after the Jinnah tower in Andhra Pradesh's Guntur was painted in Tricolour, the state home minister today unfurled the national flag near it. Mekathoti Sucharita unfurled the Tricolour as the National anthem played in the background. With this the Jagan Mohan Reddy government in the state presented a renewed Jinnah tower amid controversy over its name change. Hitting out at the BJP, Guntur Mayor Kavati Manohar Naidu said, "There is nothing wrong with the name of Jinnah Tower. BJP is only making criticism to gain political mileage." The BJP has frequently pushed the state government to rename the tower after an Indian personality, such as former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam. Remember, Jinnah Tower Centre is the most prominent landmark in Guntur and is located on Mahatma Gandhi Road. Watch for more details.
