European lawmakers in Strasbourg unleashed sharp criticism of U.S. President Donald Trump’s pressure campaign over Greenland, calling it the most serious transatlantic crisis in decades. MEPs denounced what they described as economic coercion and threats from an ally, urging Brussels to drop appeasement and adopt a firmer strategy to defend sovereignty and international law. Danish representatives insisted Greenland is “not for sale” and must not be bargaining chip, while others warned that Trump’s tariffs and tactics undermine NATO solidarity and could trigger robust EU countermeasures, including trade retaliation.
