Trump mocks France over riots, then says similar plot in US ahead of midterms?

U.S. President Donald Trump took a swipe at French President Emmanuel Macron, claiming the French leader had “bigger problems” than drug prices. In the remarks, Trump questioned what had happened to France and linked the country’s situation to his criticism of protesters and political opponents in the United States. Referring to demonstrations and heckling at his events, Trump complained that the same people repeatedly shouted at him and accused them of wanting similar problems to emerge in America. “We’re not going to let that happen to our country,” he said. Trump’s comments brought France into his domestic political argument, using the country as a point of comparison while criticising those who challenge his policies. His remarks also highlighted his combative approach to political opponents and public dissent.
