President Trump insists the United States “will do something on Greenland, whether they like it or not,” arguing that if Washington does not move decisively, Russia or China will “take over Greenland” and become America’s Arctic neighbour. He says he prefers to “make a deal the easy way” with Denmark but warns that, if necessary, the U.S. will pursue a “more difficult” path, rejecting the idea that a historical landing by a Danish boat 500 years ago guarantees permanent ownership of the territory.
