Comedian Kiku Sharda, who plays 'Palak' on the popular TV show Comedy Nights with Kapil, was sent to 14-day judicial custody on Wednesday for mimicking the self-styled spiritual guru Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.
The Haryana Police arrested him from Mumbai following a complaint that he hurt religious sentiments in his TV show, which aired on December 27.
After the arrest, Kiku apologised and told reporters, “I'm an artist who is given a role, a get-up and told what to do. I've already apologised, I didn't want to hurt anyone's sentiments.”
