The Barakah nuclear power plant is being described as both strategically and symbolically vital for the UAE after reported drone-related unrest around the site. In comments cited by Al Jazeera, Dubai-based journalist Natasha Turak said Barakah is a “crowning achievement” for the UAE because it is the first and only nuclear power plant in the Arab world, was built with South Korean partnership, and supplies about a quarter of the country’s electricity.
