UAE's MBZ sends chilling message as Iranian drones target civilians, leaders rush to hospital

Published on Mar 08, 2026 04:14 pm IST

UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited hospitalised victims of recent Iranian attacks and warned that the UAE has “thick skin and bitter flesh – we are no easy prey,” in his first public comments since the strikes that followed Ali Khamenei’s killing. Sheikh Mohamed said he was visiting “five of those who were injured in the recent events… two Emiratis, one Indian, one Sudanese and one Iranian,” adding “they are all our responsibility and, God willing, they will make a full recovery,” and insisted “all is well in the UAE,” calling residents “part of our family.” Addressing “the enemies of the UAE,” he said: “The UAE is attractive, the UAE is beautiful, and the UAE is a model. But… do not be misled by the UAE’s appearance. The UAE has thick skin and bitter flesh – we are no easy prey. We will carry out our duty towards our country, our people and our residents.”
