Tensions between Venezuela and the United States are escalating rapidly. On September 4, 2025, two armed Venezuelan F-16 fighter jets reportedly flew over the U.S. Navy destroyer USS Jason Dunham near Venezuela. The incident comes just two days after a U.S. military strike destroyed a suspected Venezuelan drug-smuggling vessel, killing 11 alleged “narcoterrorists” linked to the Tren de Aragua cartel, as claimed by US President Donald Trump.
