140 buildings tumble down, 640 killed as powerful quake shakes Turkey, Syria

Over 600 people have died as a powerful earthquake of 7.9 magnitude jolted Turkey and Syria. It was one of the largest quakes to strike Turkey in at least a century. Several videos on social media showed over 140 buildings shaking as the tremors lasted for over a minute and the shocking devastation that it left after. The earthquake also wiped out entire sections of major cities in a region filled with millions of people, who have fled the civil war in Syria and other conflicts.
