The U.S. says it is closely monitoring the Houthis’ reported seizure of the strategic Greater and Lesser Hanish islands in the Red Sea. Vice President J.D. Vance said Washington is in contact with Saudi Arabia, the UAE and other regional partners, while the Houthi advance raises fresh concerns for shipping near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and the U.S. base in Djibouti.
