The United States is mulling expanding nuclear warheads in the coming years to counter rising threats from Russia and China. According to Pranay Vaddi, a senior official on the US national security council, Washington is considering the decision. He said, “We may reach a point in the coming years where an increase from current deployed numbers is required to deter our adversaries and protect the American people and our allies and partners.” Meanwhile, the US military has also conducted a successful test of a Minuteman III nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) for the second time in less than a week.
