French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has accused far-left groups of orchestrating violence during nationwide protests, demanding that rioters pay for the destruction. The demonstrations drew between 550,000 and 800,000 people, according to government figures and organisers respectively, with 1,200 arrests and 150 police officers injured. Protesters took to the streets over the rising cost of living, education funding and deteriorating public services, while clashes, arson and looting were reported in several cities.
