China strongly condemned Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s high-profile meeting with Taiwan’s former Vice Premier Lin Hsin-i at the APEC summit in South Korea, accusing Tokyo of violating the “One China” principle and sending the “wrong signal” to pro-independence forces in Taipei. The Takaichi-Lin meeting triggered an angry diplomatic protest from Beijing, with China warning Takaichi against “crossing red lines” and demanding Japan reverse what it called “egregious actions.”
