Houthis’ next move terrifies US ally: Red Sea only the beginning? Yemen reaches a new tipping point

Yemen’s Houthi movement has expanded its offensive after reportedly seizing the Red Sea ports of Mocha and Dhubab and Mayyun Island near the Bab al-Mandab Strait. The group has also claimed advances toward the government-held cities of Taiz and Marib, where fighting and Saudi-led air operations have intensified. The International Organization for Migration says more than 85,000 people have been displaced since the latest escalation began, including over 2,000 who fled by sea to Djibouti’s northern coast near Obock.
