India has issued its first official response to the dramatic capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro by U.S. forces, calling the fast-evolving crisis a “matter of deep concern.” In a statement released by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi said it is closely monitoring developments following U.S. strikes and Maduro’s detention, while reiterating its support for the well-being and safety of the Venezuelan people. India urged all sides to exercise restraint and resolve the crisis peacefully through dialogue, stressing the need for regional stability. The MEA also confirmed that the Indian Embassy in Caracas is in contact with members of the Indian community and is extending all possible assistance amid rising diplomatic alarm bells.
