U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer is calling for War Secretary Pete Hegseth to be fired, accusing him of being “completely incompetent” and saying American sailors are “paying the price” amid concerns over conditions aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. The aircraft carrier has reportedly spent more than 250 days at sea, with allegations involving shortages of basic supplies, water contamination, plumbing problems, mental health concerns and deck safety. Senator Richard Blumenthal has also demanded answers from Hegseth and the acting Navy secretary. Hegseth, however, has rejected claims that conditions aboard the carrier were poor.
