Israeli PM Netanyahu names aide Roman Gofman as next Mossad chief | Gaza

Benjamin Netanyahu has appointed his close aide and military secretary, Major General Roman Gofman, as the next chief of Mossad, Israel’s intelligence agency. Gofman, a decorated veteran and “iron-fist” advocate on Gaza, will replace David Barnea in June next year. The Prime Minister’s Office praised Gofman’s “courage and professionalism,” recalling his actions on October 7, 2023, when he rushed to battle Hamas fighters in Israel’s south and was seriously wounded.
