Japan PM Takaichi warns of ‘most severe’ security threat since WW2 | China

Japan’s new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi warned that the country is facing its “most severe and complex security environment” since World War II, pointing to China’s expanding military activities around Japan, its deepening security ties with Russia, and North Korea’s advancing missile and nuclear capabilities. In her first post‑election policy speech to parliament in Tokyo, she said strategic competition has become “the norm” and stressed that threats now extend into outer space, cyberspace and the cognitive domain.
