Maduro ‘ready to quit’, sets this condition as Trump mulls Venezuela land strikes | ‘War on drugs’

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has reportedly offered to resign amid escalating tensions with President Donald Trump, proposing to step down within 18 months if the US would guarantee safe passage for him and his family out of the country. The Trump administration, however, insisted Maduro leave immediately, with no delay or “global amnesty” for alleged crimes—a stance that led to stalled negotiations. Maduro’s proposal emerged during a phone call between the two leaders, as US military deployments in the Caribbean and the closure of Venezuelan airspace added pressure and raised specter of potential land strikes.
