Explained: UN lists JeM’s Masood Azhar as global terrorist
Updated on May 01, 2019 09:19 pm IST
Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) founder Masood Azhar has been designated as a global terrorist in the UN Sanctions list, after China lifted its technical hold. Earlier in the day, Pakistan appeared to have reconciled to the development. The global terrorist tag will subject Masood Azhar to an assets freeze, travel ban and an arms embargo. China put the hold on the proposal to blacklist the JeM chief in March this year after France moved a resolution following the February 14 Pulwama attack that claimed lives of 40 CRPF personnel.
