NATO nation Italy has said that it is deploying a frigate in the Red Sea "in the coming hours" in a bid to protect the shipping route against attacks from Yemen's Houthi rebels. Italy's defence minister said that the Virginio Fasan frigate would head to the Red Sea as part of the European Union's naval operation Atalanta, which has been in place since late 2008. Despite the threat from the newly formed, U.S.-led Naval task force, the Iran-backed rebels threatened to sink all U.S. warships in the Red Sea and even warned that a new attack can be expected every 12 hours. Watch for more details.
