'No Islamic emirate...': India-led UNSC warning to Taliban

- As a civil war rages in Afghanistan, the world's top security forum, the United Nations Security Council, issued a stern warning for the Taliban. On Day 2 of India's presidency of the UNSC, the body said that it will not support an Islamic emirate in the Asian country. It is a veiled warning for Pakistan which has been supporting and sponsoring the Taliban in its fight to topple the elected government. However, it remains to be seen whether the world can unite to control Pakistan and its proxy before total chaos in Afghanistan, even as countries like China try to extract their pound of flesh.
