Russian President Vladimir Putin has declared martial law in four 'annexed' regions of Ukraine. Putin's order to introduce military rule in the Moscow-controlled regions also gives additional power to authorities in Russian border areas. It comes at a time when the fighting has intensified in the battleground. Putin's decree extends additional powers to limit movement, censor and strengthen curfew in these regions.
