U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has acknowledged what many analysts describe as Iran’s growing missile edge, warning that Tehran is producing over 100 ballistic missiles per month, far outpacing interceptor production rates. Speaking amid escalating conflict in the Middle East, Rubio defended the decision by President Donald Trump to launch preemptive strikes, arguing that waiting would have resulted in significantly higher American casualties. Rubio claimed Iran had already delegated strike authority to field commanders and pre-positioned missile units, making retaliation “automatic” if attacked. He said U.S. intelligence assessed an imminent threat to American forces and bases across the region. According to Rubio, the mission’s core objective is to destroy Iran’s ballistic missile manufacturing capability and prevent Tehran from building what he described as a “shield of conventional immunity” to protect its nuclear ambitions.
