In a move that could reshape global alliances and challenge U.S. influence, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov used Russia’s 2024 BRICS chairmanship to extend a sweeping offer of partnership to the Global South and East. Lavrov highlighted Russia’s rapidly growing ties with China, India, Vietnam, Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Egypt, Algeria, Argentina, and other “Global Majority” nations, emphasizing new infrastructure projects like the Tumannaya River bridge with North Korea.
