'Thrown off tall building': Gay Afghan on Taliban's punishment for homosexuality

With the Taliban as the new rulers of Afghanistan and strict laws now imposed across the war-torn country, the LGBTQ community lives in fear. Yahya (name changed), a gay and gender non conforming person narrated story of living under fear in the Taliban regime. “When they know about you, they definitely know that you have been involved in certain acts, and you identify yourself as a certain person - in this case, as gay. So they will either throw you out from a tall building. That’s their law,” Yahya said. Taliban have said they will rule more moderately than they did in the 1990s but they have imposed their interpretation of Sharia law.
