UN marks 4 years of Ukraine war as Russia rejects ceasefire, vows to fight on

U.N. General Assembly members marked the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion by demanding an immediate, full and unconditional ceasefire, as Ukraine warned Moscow’s ongoing “imperial” war violates core UN Charter principles and shows no real intent to stop its aggression. Russia rejected the UN General Assembly resolution, calling it one‑sided, “anti‑Russian,” and a political tool of the West that ignores what Moscow describes as the “real causes” of the conflict and Ukraine’s alleged violations in Donbas. Russian representatives argued the text was detached from realities on the ground, claimed it would not help peace efforts, and insisted Moscow would continue its “special military operation” while blaming Western arms supplies for prolonging the war.
