India has strongly condemned an attack on an India-flagged commercial ship off the coast of Oman, calling the strike “unacceptable” amid rising tensions in and around the Strait of Hormuz. The incident comes as Abbas Araghchi is in New Delhi for the BRICS Foreign Ministers Meeting, adding fresh urgency to regional security concerns. In an official statement, India’s Ministry of External Affairs said it “deplores the continuous attacks on commercial shipping,” stressing that civilian mariners and freedom of navigation must be protected. The MEA confirmed that all Indian crew members on board are safe and thanked Omani authorities for their swift rescue and assistance.
