The United States has said that Israel has not presented any “specific evidence” to back its claims that Hamas steals and diverts United Nations assistance meant for Palestinians. Washington also said that the recent targeted killings of Palestinian officers guarding aid convoys at Rafah crossing would make supplying assistance “virtually impossible”. “With the departure of police escorts, it has been virtually impossible for the UN or anyone else, Jordan, the UAE, or any other implementer to safely move assistance in Gaza because of criminal elements,” said David Satterfield, U.S. Special Envoy For Middle East Humanitarian Issues.
