The annual Tetbury Woolsack Race is literally an uphill task. Contestants carry sacks of wool and run uphill. In the middle ages, it was a show of strength to woo young women. Nowadays, men carry a 60-pound sack of wool on their backs and women carry 35-pound sacks. Now in its 43rd year, the Woolsack race continue to draw a close-knit crowd and raise money for local charities.
