Prime Minister Narendra Modi​ made a 45-minute speech while addressing a joint session of US Congress on Wednesday. He said that India and the U.S. have overcome “the hesitations of history” and that the U.S. was now an “indispensable partner” to India. He also emphasized the common cultural ties between the two nations. Modi cited estimates from Siri, the iPhone's personal assistant, that “more Americans bend for yoga than to throw a curve ball.” He received at least 53 rounds of applause and nine standing ovations.
