Watch | Proposal to ban declawing of cats sparks debate in NY
Updated on May 24, 2016 03:37 pm IST
Animals lovers in New York are divided over a bill proposing to ban declawing of cats. While some feel that removing a cat's claws is barbaric others argue that a ban on the procedure would mean cats with behavioral problems would either be abandoned or euthanized. The bill proposes a thousand dollar fine for veterinarians who perform the procedure. If passed, New York would be the first in the USA to ban declawing.
