Russia launched a large-scale drone barrage across Ukraine on October 3, with Ukrainian authorities reporting 157 Shahed and Gerbera drones and at least eight people killed and 83 wounded. Kyiv’s northern bridge over the Dnipro River was among the reported targets, while Kharkiv saw five deaths and 49 injuries in drone and glide-bomb attacks. Strikes were also reported in Sumy, Mykolaiv and Odesa, including an attack near Odesa that damaged a Liberian-flagged cargo vessel. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia was targeting infrastructure and vowed that Ukraine would respond with strikes against Russian military and energy-related targets.
