At least seven people were reported killed after a powerful explosion and fire tore through Workshop No. 4 at the Krasnozavodsk Chemical Plant in Russia’s Moscow region, causing the facility section to collapse. Russian reports said emergency crews searched for workers after the blast, while local authorities indicated that roughly 40 employees had been evacuated and the whereabouts of several others were being established. Early accounts pointed to a possible industrial accident involving hazardous materials, and the head of the Sergiev Posad district said preliminary information showed the incident was not linked to a drone attack. The plant produces ammunition, pyrotechnic products and explosives, and is linked to Russia’s state defence conglomerate Rostec.
