Donald Trump has said both Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky want the Russia-Ukraine war to end, while warning against rhetoric that could push Europe closer to a wider confrontation with Moscow. Speaking alongside Zelensky at the UN General Assembly, Trump said he believed the conflict could be resolved more quickly than many expect. Zelensky, meanwhile, said Kyiv remains ready for an energy ceasefire with Russia if Moscow stops targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. The discussions come as NATO officials warn of growing risks from Russia and Europe debates how to avoid a direct NATO-Russia confrontation while supporting Ukraine.
