UPDATE: A vegetation fire that broke out Tuesday near Oakley Road and Willow Avenue in Antioch has been contained, officials said. The 10-acre blaze ignited around 4:25 p.m. and quickly escalated to a third alarm. The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office issued a Community Warning System alert, advising those with respiratory sensitivities to close doors and windows due to heavy smoke. By 6 p.m., firefighters had contained the perimeter, and by 8 p.m., the advisory was lifted and an all-clear was issued.
“This message is from the Contra Costa Fire Protection District. As of 7:45 pm, an all clear has been issued for the public health advisory due to smoke from a nearby fire for residents in Oakley, Brentwood, Byron, and Discovery Bay. Please feel free to resume your normal activities,” the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.
