UPDATE: A wildfire burning in Brinnon, Washington, destroyed two structures on Tuesday. The blaze, dubbed the Belgian Fire, ignited around 2:10 p.m. in the 100 block of Belgian Drive. Authorities issued evacuation orders for nearby residents as the fire spread. By 6 p.m., the Washington State Fire Marshal’s Office reported the fire had scorched an estimated 10 acres and was still growing.
In an update just after 7 p.m., East Jefferson Fire Rescue said, “Crews fighting the Belgian Fire near Brinnon have been able to get around the fire perimeter and are working to prevent further loss. The fire has burned approximately five acres of brush and heavy timber. A total of two structures have been lost in the fire, one abandoned home and an unoccupied travel trailer.”
“A level 3 evacuation order remains in effect for the north side of Dosewallips Road from Rocky Brook Rd to approximately one mile north. Evacuation levels may be lowered later this evening. The Brinnon Community Center remains open for evacuees.”
