  • The Connecticut Avenue-Van Ness neighborhood of Washington was on lockdown after the mid-afternoon shooting and residents were evacuated as police hunted for the gunman.

US tells citizens to avoid Shanghai, Hong Kong on ‘arbitrary’ Covid travel curbs

In a travel advisory, Washington highlighted Hong Kong, and Jilin province in north-eastern China in addition to Shanghai as places Americans should not travel to “due to Covid-19-related restrictions, including the risk of parents and children being separated.”
