Brittany Mahomes is in the spotlight after an Instagram story she shared on Thursday night. The Kansas City Current co-owner posted a quote from author Sharon McMahon that read, "Hate will not get us out of this mess." It went on to say, "Your feelings might lie and try to tell you otherwise, but hate doesn't know how to heal or build, only how to harm and destroy."

The timing of the post raised questions. Hours before, conservative activist Charlie Kirk was shot and killed while speaking at Utah Valley University.

Tribute from actor Chris Patt

Kirk’s death sparked quick reactions. Actor Chris Pratt wrote on X, "Praying for Charlie Kirk right now, for his wife and young children, for our country. We need God's grace."

With those responses, Mahomes’ message drew attention. Some saw it as a push for peace. Others thought it might be a quiet comment on political violence. She has not explained.

This is not the first time Brittany, 30, has faced political attention. Last year, she was called out for liking a Make America Great Again post. She defended herself, writing: "There's no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well." Donald Trump responded at the time by calling her "beautiful."

Her new post is different. It appears less about politics and more about unity. At a moment of division following Kirk’s death, the words focused on emotion over debate.

Charlie Kirk, the CEO and co-founder of the conservative youth group Turning Point USA, was known as a top podcaster, political activist, and ally of former President Donald Trump. He worked to reshape the GOP’s get-out-the-vote operation for the 2024 election, believing that many Trump supporters who rarely voted could be convinced to turn out.

His death was the latest in a series of attacks on U.S. political figures from both parties.

About the suspect Tyler James Robionson

Police said a 22-year-old Utah man, Tyler James Robinson, was arrested for killing Kirk during an event at a college campus, as reported by AP.

Robinson had been accepted to Utah State University on a major academic scholarship, according to a video shared by a family member on social media. He only attended for one semester in 2021, the school said.

After leaving Utah State, Robinson enrolled at Dixie Technical College, a small school in southern Utah near his hometown of Washington, a city of about 30,000 people located around 240 miles southwest of the Utah Valley campus where the attack happened. At the time of his arrest, he was a third-year student in Dixie Tech’s electrical apprenticeship program, which trains future electricians, lighting technicians, and electrical repair workers.
